Fixed temperature heating element - 150 Watt
Important - If you are intending to use this element as a dual fuel element, you must also buy the chrome T piece from the extras drop down box below. If you are making an electric only rail, you will not need the T piece.
This dual fuel element allows you to connect your towel rail to your central heating system and to an electrical supply also. Therefore your towel rail will come on with the rest of the radiators in your house in winter or alternatively, in summer, you can switch just the towel rail on in your bathroom. In summary this non-thermostatic element allows you to do all of the following.....
- Use your towel rail in conjunction with your other house radiators.
- Use your towel rail only without having to switch your central heating on.
- This element can also be used in conjuction with a timer! A timer can be sourced from a qualifed electrician.
Which heated towel rails will this element work with?
This element will heat your towel rail to the maximum safe operation of 65 degrees and then efficiently maintain that temperature. It is essential that you adhere to the element/towel rail size match above so that your element has a long and trouble free life. Installing an element with a higher heat output will not make your towel rail hotter! If you were to install a larger wattage element, you would still achieve a maximum of 65 degrees but your element would be working much harder because the internal self regulation thermostat would be forcing it to switch on/off too many times thus shortening the life of the element. Trust our recommendation - we are the experts in towel rails!
How easy is it to fit and are the fittings standard?
The element is a standard fitting and is suitable for all UK specification towel rails with a 1/2" tapping (99.9% of all 'ladder' style towel rails in the UK today) regardless of who the manufacturer is. The element simply screws up into one of the threads at the bottom of the towel rail uprights and the flex connects to a fused spur (socket in plain English). You will also need to purchase a set of radiator valves so that you can also connect your rail to your central heating system. The assembly is quite simple and very self explanatory when the parts are in front of you or the plumber and the element comes complete with comprehensive instructions.
